Feature Friday Challenge – Shiny/Foil Snowman Christmas Card

This month at The Character Cafe, it's all about sparkle, shine and bling.  This week, we've been challenged to use foil or shiny stuff on our card.

Kendra has also posted an important, yet disappointing message on the blog.  So pop over and have a read.

Now, over at Crafty Cardmakers, they've challenged us to show our "latest and greatest," along with our "First efforts."  Now, I'm not sure about greatest, but here's my latest.

I really LOVE this particular paper pack.  I love colors of course, but I also love that they're already glittery.  I walk around with enough glitter all over me!  LOL.

Birdy Ornament (by Shelby - age 8)

Good morning!  Today I have something extra special to show you.  My hubby and I take his little cousins to Sunday School every week.  Well, last week, Shelby wanted to stay with us afterward so that she could go with us to the evening service.  She likes to do crafty things so I pulled out some crafty things for her.

I let her do it all by herself and she did a great job!  She knows that I do a lot of papercrafting and enter contests, so she asked me to enter some for her too.  If she decides to make this a regular thing I guess I'll have to create a blog just for her. Anyhow, without further ado, here it is:

The Character Cafe: Christmas Tree Card

Oh, what a weekend...my laptop still hasn't been right since we reinstalled the hard drive, so DH ordered me a new one.  Good thing because it went really wonky on Thursday.  He reinstalled the software on the new hard drive Friday, but I couldn't find my software for my camera!  I finally did...mixed in with a bunch of audio cds....well, needless to say, I'm late with my TCC post for the week.

But here it is.  I just loved this little tree as soon as I saw it!  It's so funky and cool.  I just had to glitter this one up big!

Creative Craft Recipe Challenge: Family Scrapbook Page

Good morning all!  This fortnight at Creative Craft Challenges, we have a recipe for you...
  • 1 Ribbon
  • 2 Papers
  • 3 Brads

Well, I'm still working on all those scrapbook pages....I'm thinking it will be a miracle if I get them all done in time... we'll see though.  This is another page is for the album I'm putting together for my brother-in-law's family.  I've decided that for their album, I'm just going to use one matching paper pack so that I can pump them out a little faster.

Isn't that cute?  They were high school sweethearts.  And oddly enough she and I were best friends in Kindergarten and First Grade, until her family moved away.  After I started dating my (now) hubby, imagine my surprise when I went to meet his family and saw her there after all those years!  Crazy how things like that happen sometimes.

The Character Cafe Blog Hop: Snow Days LO Featuring SNOW FRIENDLY

Good morning all!  You should have arrived here from the lovely LOLA'S blog.  If not, pop back to the STORE and hop along with us for a chance to win a $5 gc to spend on some of Kendra and Kelly's lovely creations.

This month is all about glitter and glitz at The Character Cafe.  I got to work with SNOW FRIENDLY, which was awesome, because I'm really trying super hard to get my MIL's scrapbook done in time for Christmas.  And this sweet digi worked perfectly with my snow days layout.

I  made this little cutie into a snowglobe.  I used my new Cricut (I have the BEST hubby in the world~!) to cut out the base and then I cut another acetate circle over him and used my white paint pen to add some snow.  I also cut the border and corners with my new Cricut as well.

One lucky hopper who leaves me a comment will win the newly released Snow Friendly digi I worked with this week.  So make sure to leave me a comment and let me know you were here before hopping along to see what beautiful creation NANCY has in store for you!

Hodge Podge Shop: Christmastime Birthday Card

Good morning!  I haven't been on much lately because I caught whatever has been going around and have been sick as a dog since Saturday.  I'm finally getting over whatever was wrong with me.

This fortnight over at The Hodge Podge Shop, Shelley has challenged us to make a Christmasy Birthday card.  That works perfectly for me, since as our family grows, there are more birthdays in December than just mine now.  I made this card for our nephew who will turn one in a few days.  I thought the bold colors were fitting.

I don't think I'm finished with this page...I really need to add some more embellies, but I'm having crafter's block..anyone have some ideas?

Update:  Okay, I've added a bit more to it. Thanks for your suggestion!

Anyhoo...on with the challenge!  This week our theme at Creative Craft Challenges is "tag it".  We wanna see lots of tags on those projects!  I'm trying to get a scrapbook done for my mother-in-law in time for Christmas (fingers crossed).  So, I decided to use some tags on my pages.  Here's the first one, featuring pictures of my sister-in-law as a baby:

"Milk Carton" Treat Box

I used one of the snowmen images from The Hodge Podge Shop for this.  There are two images, one on each side of the box.  They're so quick and easy to color, it takes no time at all.  Make sure to hop over to the challenge blog because for a limited time, there's a freebie there.

I ran the box thru my Cuttlebug to cut a window and then glued down some acetate over that window.  The pattern is one that I downloaded from Create4Fun for this weeks' challenge.

I've never made one of these before, so it was a bit of a learning curve.  Next time, I'll definitely use a heavier weight cardstock.

The Character Cafe 3, 2, 1 Challenge

I'm hosting this week's Feature Friday Challenge at The Character Cafe and the challenge is a bit of a "blast off" recipe.

This week we want to see:

 - 3 Gems
 - 2 Brads
   - 1 Flower
                 - The Color Orange

So pop on over to see what's cookin' in The Character Cafe store, and then head back to the challenge blog and show us what you've got!  You could be this week's winner!

I think this stamp is so cute.  It looks to me like he's in a sugar coma (it makes me think of an overload of cookie dough from the wooden spoon in his hand).  I know that my dp and it's background look reddish in the photo, but it's actually a deep rusty orange color.  I inked the edges of all the paper and then glittered the edge of my green paper (obviously, right? ..lol)

Also entered in the following challenges:

E.A.D Designs:  color challenge
wee Memories:  #27 celebrate something
Our Creative Corner:  embellishments
Sweet Stampin' Challenge:  #48 ribbon

Stampin' with the Dragon:  You Got Ink
Ooh-La-La:  Scary Stuff (the challenge says it doesn't have to be halloween, and mice (as cute as this little guy is) scare the dickens out of me...does that count? lol)

City Crafter:  Rome (a vintage feel)
Tuesday Taggers:  Nursery Rhyme (is 'Twas The Night Before Christmas a nursery rhyme?)
